Preached this morning at a Baptist Church. During the scripture reading time earlier in the service, I read several sections of Ephesians 1-4, so don’t mark me down too hard for not reading those verses during the sermon.
Full house today, maybe 170. Very cool. I was surprised how exhausted I was. I haven’t really “preached” in almost 3 months with the exceptions of the Cornerstone seminars where Jason Blair failed to get saved.
Dan,
1) I was a guest. It wasn’t my choice.
2) I honor the tradition of the public invitation, but I am careful to make it completely ethical. There is nothing wrong with a public declaration of faith or a public declaration of desire to join a church.
3) No pleading. 2 Verses.

Just chuckled that’s all.

He was a guest behind the pulpit. I don’t think it would have been very polite to come in and change some long-standing traditions when one is an invited guest.

Micheal,
It was good to hear you preach. You articulated your latest series in a great Birdseye view.
But. There had to be a but huh?! Why would you follow the “invitation” formula? Was there 20 verses of just as I am?
Don’t get me wrong. I love your writing and wait for every post. Just surprised that a explorer on the wilderness would follow the path.
Love ya,
Dan
