Though I have been in regular communication with our friend Eagle, he has been absent by choice from Internet Monk for awhile. He had some important things to do in his own life and felt like he should take a break from active commenting.

I received the following announcement from him recently, and thought you all would like to hear it. I asked his permission and he said yes. There will be some follow-up posts later with more background and information.

It’s official…

I’m registered to be baptized at Fairfax Community Church on Nov. 24 during the 11:15 service. You can put this on your calendar if your in the DC area. Or pray for it if you are unable to attend. 

We are, of course, thrilled that Eagle has found a way in the midst of his own wilderness. Please pray for him as he prepares to be cleansed in the waters of baptism.

  9. I must admit I had a list of questions I always wanted to ask of Eagle, but never did out of fear that they might drive him the wrong direction. With this news, I’m glad I never asked them. 🙂

    Deliver Eagle, O Lord, from the way of sin and death.
    Open his heart to your grace and truth.
    Fill him with your holy and life-giving Spirit.
    Keep him in the faith and communion of your holy Church.
    Teach him to love others in the power of the Spirit.
    Send Eagle into the world in witness to your love.
    Bring him to the fullness of your peace and glory.

    Grant, O Lord, that all who are baptized into the death
    of Jesus Christ your Son may live in the power of his
    resurrection and look for him to come again in glory; who
    lives and reigns now and forever. Amen.

    You have come full circle, now with eyes wide open. May God give you the wisdom to know love from law, truth from spiritual abuse, the genuineness of a person over the mask that they wear. May God bless you on your renewed journey towards Him. You are where you are for His purpose….

    Back in the 90’s I used to stay at a bed and breakfast in Fairfax .. I think its called the Stafford House now.. when I did business with DoD and other government agencies. Each room had the name of a Confederate War Hero… I liked the Mosby room, lots of books and at the time no TV’s in any of the rooms… very much a mid 1800’s period atmosphere….

  32. Now that’s a kicker. Took me several years after my Evangelical Circus Burn Job to finally come back and settle in a Liturgical church, and Eagle took a more severe burn job than I did. All I can say is, EAGLE, YOU SURE WORK FAST!

  35. And thanks as well to Eagle for being open and honest enough to admit that he wrestled with God; something each of us, I suspect, do with some regularity. At least most of us hanging out at Internet Monk.

    PS God ain’t mad at anyone for wrestling with Him. It’s one way to let Him know you’re interested.
