That entire “infant baptism” scene in The Godfather would have been very strange if the Corleones were Baptists in a revival meeting listening to some evangelist.
P.S. Or if the Corleones were attending a revival where the group from video #3 of the “Coming to a Church Near You†post was performing. — Charley

That is just so surreal and just so WRONG, the only reply I can make is Aliester Crowley’s comment re Jack Parsons and L Ron Hubbard:
“I thought I had a most morbid imagination, as good as any man’s…but it appears I have not.”
As well as a restatement of the TV Trope “All Christians are Catholics”; you want the maximum of rich on-screen action without looking like a mental case, you show one of the Western liturgical rites.
They were filled with all sorts of Biblical themes – the movies still manage to surprise me for the depth of its exploration of sin and its horrible consequences, grace and redemption, and even divine justice. — Dan Crawford
The last time I saw The Godfather was around a month ago, on one of AMC or SpikeTV’s marathons. After all these years, it still holds up, still fresh and rich, still a masterpiece of storytelling.
That scene, along with several others, convinced me that the Godfather trilogy was one of the 20th century’s most profound movie stories. They were filled with all sorts of Biblical themes – the movies still manage to surprise me for the depth of its exploration of sin and its horrible consequences, grace and redemption, and even divine justice.
Off topic, but I don’t know where else to post my wishing a great birthday celebration. I was lurking the BHT site when I saw those balloons.
I struggled with myself should I post this or not, wether a stranger wish you well in your birthday has meaning or not…anyway..
Happy Birthday!
Yeah, they might have been firing off the guns inside the sanctuary.

I may be wrong but wouldn’t it have looked more like the baptism scene from “There Will be Blood.”
